Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs Mrs Edna Molewa, MP, will host a media briefing to announce a decision regarding fracking in the Karoo as it pertains to water. She will also reveal details about the start of the process of the national water policy review.
The new policy positions were approved by cabinet for gazetting and they are intended to address gaps that may exist in the new legislative review process. The legislative review is a crucial element of the management of water in the country as it encompasses among others, the proposed merger of two key pieces of legislation.
