Combined Joint African Exercise

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) will participate in the third Combined Joint African Exercise (CJAX) from 26 – 30 August 2013. South African National War College (SANWC) is a lead in this multinational exercise, which will take place in three countries concurrently. The other countries include Botswana and Zambia.

CJAX is a classroom-based exercise designed to equip senior military personnel undergoing a Joint Senior Command and Staff Programme (JSCSP), with the necessary knowledge and capability to plan and or command a Peace Support Operation (PSO) in a multinational environment. CJAX emanated from the African Conference of Commandants (ACoC) held in 2007 and focuses more on Armed Forces within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Learners from SANWC, Botswana Staff College, Malawian Armed Forces and Zambian Staff College will participate and each college will exchange students and instructors with other partener countries.

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend a briefing on Monday, 26 August 2013, at 8h00 at SANWC, 186 Struben Street, Pretoria. The briefing will provide an overview on the exercise.
