Media alert and photo opportunity: Telkom to handover information and communications technology (ICT) package to 150 schools in joint initiative with the Western Cape.

Tomorrow, the Managing Director of Telkom South Africa, Pinky Moholi, will be handing over the "Telkom 150 Schools" project to Western Cape MEC for Education, Donald Grant.

In a joint partnership between the Department of Education, the Western Cape Education Department and the Telkom Foundation, learners from 150 schools across the Western Cape now have broadband access to the internet to bridge the digital divide.

Three classrooms in each of the 150 schools have an internet package consisting of interactive whiteboards with projectors and laptops for teachers. This will contribute to the improvement of quality teaching and learning through ICT.

Also in attendance will be the Deputy Minister of Education Enver Surty, the Deputy Minister of Communications Dina Pule and the Chief Executive Officer of Telkom Foundation Reabetsoe Motsepe.
