Media Advisory: International Victim Empowerment conference

Limpopo province will be hosting an international conference on victim empowerment this week.

The three day conference which starts on Wednesday, ending on Friday is initiative of the national department of Social Development in partnership with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and European Union.

Limpopo MEC for Health and Social Development, Miriam Segabutla, will be directing the programme which is expected to draw dignitaries, including ministers, from as far afield as Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Angola. Back home, the conference will also be graced by the likes of Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Limpopo Premier, Cassel Mathale and Police Minister, Mr Nathi Mthethwa, among other leaders.

The conference will take place at Protea Hotel (The Ranch) in Polokwane from 8h00 on Wednesday, 29 September 2010.

Various speakers are expected to render messages of support related to victim empowerment initiatives and restorative justice approaches, among other topics.
