The Department of Correctional Services in a strategic partnership with Volleyball South Africa will engage in a groundbreaking initiative as part of the nationwide celebration of Women's Month with a "Volley all Festival" for offenders and officials that will take place at the Johannesburg Correctional Facility (Sun City).

More than 200 offenders from various correctional facilities in and around Gauteng, comprising of women, men and youth will be playing volleyball against the officials.

This is the beginning of a long term partnership with Correctional Services whereby Volleyball South Africa (VSA) and the Department of Correctional Services will from now on work side by side to promote volleyball and rehabilitation of offenders through sport.

The event will be co-officiated by the Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Ms Hlengiwe Mkhize, President of Volleyball South Africa Mr Tubby Reddy and the National Commissioner of Correctional Services Mr Tom Moyane who will deliver messages of support and handover volleyball equipment to the offenders.

In addition, Volleyball South Africa will conduct coaching clinics for offenders. Media will be allowed to conduct interviews and take photos of offenders who will be participating.
