The Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Ms Nelisiwe Moerane will lead her department to Metsweding District in Refilwe in volunteering their services to observe Mandela Day on 18 July 2010.
The department would therefore like to invite members of the media not only to cover the event but to also give their 67 minutes or more by joining the MEC and her staff in this selfless act of making a difference in other people's lives.
Under the theme 'Volunteering in Education' which has been declared by the Gauteng Provincial Government, the MECs will revisit schools they visited earlier in January when schools opened.
MEC Moerane will therefore make a welcome return to Metsweding District targeting Sedibeng Primary School in Refilwe which is one of the three schools she had visited. Work to be done includes painting, cleaning, and the improvement of the library and sports facilities.
