MEC Mosunkutu celebrates Heritage day with learners at a provincial traffic competition

The MEC for Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Khabisi Mosunkutu will tomorrow celebrate heritage day with an award function for provincial traffic competition by giving bicycles and trophies. The event is a part of heritage month celebration aimed at preserving driving ethics and value by instilling in learners responsible road usage. It is also a built up to bring your bicycle project to be undertaken during transport month in October where motorists will be urged to ease traffic congestion by cycling to their daily activities.

The competition is part of the multi-media learning areas of life orientation which started in 2008 in collaboration with Department of Education, to incorporate road safety into the curriculum. 

All 112 grade 4 to 7 participating learners from schools around Tshwane and Metsweding underwent eliminating process from school level to all four educational districts of Gauteng.
