Tomorrow, the Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development MEC, Qedani Mahlangu, will launch the Older Persons Act of 2006 in Carletonville, West Rand.
The objective of the act is to deal effectively with the plight of older persons by establishing a framework aimed at the empowerment and protection of older persons and at the promotion and maintenance of their status, rights, well being, safety and security.
Prior to the launch, senior managers will clean up the Legae Ikhaya old age home and MEC Mahlangu will donate blankets to the senior citizens.
