MEC Mabandla to outline plans for rural housing, vulnerable groups and spending of allocated budget

Responding to the call of creating sustainable human settlementsby President Jacob Zuma in His State of the Nation Address and to a commitment by Premier Noxolo Kiviet duringher State of the Province Address to spend money allocated for housing, Housing MEC Nombulelo Mabandla will outline departmental approach rural development, spending of allocated funds and creation of human settlements in the province for 2009/10 financial year.

This will be tabled as a Department of Housing Policy Speech at the Eastern Cape legislature on Thursday, 18 June 2009 at 14h00.

The speech will focus on rural intervention through eradication of informal settlements, back yard dwelling and traditional dwellings. The MEC will also unveil how the department will deal with housing applications for vulnerable groups including disabled, youth, women and military veterans and how they will be empowered as contractors through the emerging contractor development programme.

The speech will be presented at the Eastern Cape legislature on Thursday 18 June 2009 at 14h00.
