MEC invite media houses to electricity switch on

The MEC for Local Government and Housing, Mr Soviet Lekganyane and the Greater Giyani Municipality Mayor Doris Mathebula, invite media houses to electricity switch on in Giyani. On that day, the MEC will first visit Mayesh village, which is the one of the poorest villages in the country.

The event will be held as follows:
Date: 12 June 2009
Venue: Ndindani Sports Ground
Time: 11h00

The women of Ndindani Village used to fetch firewood everyday to cook for their families; they would use paraffin and candles to light up their homes. When the sun sets the entire village would be plunged into darkness. Those days are over!

The lives of Ndindani residents have since improved!!

The Department of Local Government and Housing has spent over four million rand for electrification of the entire 500 households in the area.

With over 82% of our people having access to electricity and 83% access to water, the department will continue to accelerate the delivery of these and other essential services.

Your presence in this event will be highly appreciated.
