MEC for Health receives the Malaysian delegation

Today the MEC for Health in KwaZulu-Natal received an eight-member delegation from Malaysia who are in the province to share experience and impart practice of medical male circumcision.

The delegates arrived in the province yesterday, Sunday, and today visited the midlands Northdale Hospital where they met and trained nurses and doctors on medical male circumcision.

“Solidarity and close cooperation, among individuals and among countries is a fundamental characteristic of public health. There are not such things as boundaries for illnesses and health risks, as we have seen time and again, be it with high profile diseases such as HIV and AIDS. No country is too big or too small, too rich or too poor, at the time of making its contribution to global public health levels,” said the MEC on meeting the delegation.

This evening the MEC will officially welcome the United States of American missionary (United Hands Projects) and Malaysian delegations at a function to be held at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. The US delegation is in the province on missionary work to provide speacialists health care to, mainly rural communities. They have brought with them specialists in the fields of paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, dentistry and ophthalmology. They are in the province on invitation by the Seventh Day Adventist Students Association and will spend one week in the province.
