Limpopo Youth Commission takes young people to provincial heritage sides

As we celebrate this year's Heritage Month under the theme: "Celebrating South Africa's Living Human Treasures, The Custodians of Our Intangible Cultural Heritage"; the Limpopo Youth Commission will be taking more than 325 young learners from all five districts to Mapungubwe National Park on 23 September 2010 and Bela-Bela Aventura Boiling point on 28 September 2010 with the following objectives:

  • To create a platform for youth to exchange ideas on the importance of heritage sites and activities of the country.
  • To bring together youth from various racial, ethnical, cultural, social and religious backgrounds to share their diversity and foster nation building as heritage signifies the importance of culture and past history in the society.
  • Assist them in realizing that our heritage is a powerful agent for promulgating South African identity; fostering reconciliation and promoting the notion that diversity is a national asset and we remain proud of our diversity.

Young People from Mohlakaneng High school in Capricorn, Solomon Mailula Secondary School in Vhembe, Kheale Secondary School in Mopani, Tlou Matlala in Waterburg and Kgoshi Morangoato Secondary School in Sekhukhune will receive a heritage lecture on the importance of South African heritage sites, culture and various traditional norms.

The Limpopo Youth Commission further encourages young people to be proud of their cultures and to join the rest of the country as we will be celebrating our National Heritage day on the 24th September 2010.

We further encourage them to form part of our Provincial celebration which will take place at Marapong in Lephalale, Waterberg district onĀ 24 September 2010.
