Honouring courage, determination and bravery of struggle heroines during Women's Month

The Department of Arts Culture and South African Heritage and Resource Agency invite you to attend the declaration as heritage sites of the graves of Helen Joseph, Charlotte Maxeke and Lillian Ngoyi.

The declaration of the three women’s graves is part of a long term project to identify sites of women who have made a cultural contribution in different spheres of the liberation struggle including the arts, business, politics and armed combat.

12h30: Nancefield Cemetery Chris Hani (Old Potch) Road, Klipspruit
13h30: Walter Sisulu Freedom Square, corner Union & Main Road, Kliptown.

Attending: Minister of Arts and Culture Ms Lulama Xingwana, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga, Women, Children, Youth and People with Disabilities Minister Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, Johannesburg Metropolitan Executive Mayor Amos Masondo, South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) CEO Sibongile Van Damme, Maxeke/Mannya, Ngoyi/Joseph Family members and ANC executive leadership and veterans.
