Youth Development Agency accompanies Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to Youth Development Expo, 16 Nov

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) remains committed to ensuring that all young people have access to information about the various opportunities offered by government and the private sector. The NYDA will thus be accompanying the Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa to a youth development expo near Lichtenburg, North West province on Sunday, 16 November 2014.

According to Yershen Pillay, NYDA Executive Chairperson, “We want to expose the youth of the North West to the NYDA’s various products and service offerings including the Solomon Mahlangu Scholarship Fund, the NYDA Business Grants and Voucher Programme as well as the Second Chance Matric rewrite and Start Here Career Guidance Programmes. The aim of this expo is to empower youth with information to allow them to make knowledgeable decisions with regards to their careers, education, health and civic activities,” said Pillay.

The Youth Development Expo is being organised by the Deputy Presidents’ office and additional partners anticipated to share information on the day include the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NFSAS), FET colleges, the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (Sefa) and CETA.

“Whilst an abundance of opportunities are on offer for the youth of South Africa by government, the reality is majority of young people lack access to information about these prospects and are often unable to take up such relevant opportunities. We hereby urge the private sector, members of the media and community leaders to work with government in information sharing.”
