Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities hosts outreach programme with women in logistics at the Cape Town Harbour as part of Women's Month, 8 Aug

As part of Women’s Day build up activities, the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) in partnership with Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) will host an outreach programme with women in logistics at the Cape Town Harbour in the Western Cape.

The Minister's visit to the Port of Cape Town forms part of  Women’s Month celebration themed “Accelerating Socio-Economic Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment’’. This is a broad theme that focuses on opportunities across all sectors of the economy.

During the tour of the Port of Cape Town the Minister will be joined by Advocate Phyllis Difeto, TNPA Managing Executive in Western Region and the Chairperson of Women in the Maritime Sector in Eastern and Southern Africa (WOMESA).

This visit forms part of the transformation agenda in the maritime sector and also showcases available opportunities within marine transport. Maritime transport is a big part of the oceans economy and the transformation of the maritime sector requires full participation of women.
