Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities and KwaZulu-Natal Office of the Premier embark on service delivery drive to Kwa-Nongoma, 6 to 7 Nov

Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities and the Office of the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal embark on a service delivery drive to Kwa-Nongoma.

The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) and the Office of the Premier of Kwa Zulu Natal Invite media to the service delivery drive to address psychosocial challenges that women, youth and persons with disabilities are confronted with in Kwa-Nongoma from 6-7 November 2023.

The DWYPD is committed to advancing the rights and well-being of women, youth and persons with disabilities in South Africa. A commitment that is guided by the fundamental principles of gender equality, which says all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.

As part of the 2023 International Mandela Day, the department hosted a stakeholder engagement session and interacted with the survivors and the victims of Gender- Based Violence (GBV), who appealed for government intervention as the majority of the victims and survivors do not have access to government social services due to the lack of Identity Documents (ID) and their children lack birth certificates.

In response to their plea, the department has collaborated with the Premier of Kwa Zulu Natal. Together with the following stakeholders who will also be part of the service delivery drive, Social Development, the South African Police Service and the Department of Health in an effort to deliver comprehensive services during the two- day service delivery drive.
