Women, Children and People with Disabilities Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu hands over clothes and blankets to two centres for orphans and vulnerable children’s in Limpopo

Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu will visit Limpopo Province this weekend where with the aim of visit two centres for orphans and vulnerable children.

The Deputy Minister accompanied by the Mayor of Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality, supported by other government departments will conduct an inspection visit to the newly launched Pontsho Disability Centre in Khureng village in Zebediela area, 50 km away from Lebowakgomo in Limpopo.

This centre is home to children with disabilities. This centre is the first of its kind to be built in a rural area and it showcases a best practice model for Universal Access in relation to access to physical infrastructure, education and skills development for children with disabilities. The centre accommodates more than 41 children with diverse disabilities.

In addition, the Deputy Minister Bogopane-Zulu, accompanied by Dikgale Traditional Council and Member of Parliament, Mme MC Dikgale will also visit Rehloka Eng Drop in Centre in Titibe village, outside Polokwane where they will hand out blankets, sports kits and netball.

Rehloka Eng Drop in Centre started operating on 14 September 2009. It is situated at Ga-Dikgale (Titibe Village). The Centre accommodates 205 orphanage and vulnerable children from the age of 5 to 18 years.

During her recent visit to this centre, the children humbly requested the Deputy Minister to assist them with some of the basic needs such uniforms, soccer and netball kits. On 18 August, the Deputy Minister together with Mme Dikgale will hand out clothes, blankets and sports kits to the centre.

The centre accommodates more than 205 orphans and vulnerable children in that village. Volunteering community members came to work with the founder and provide care for these children using a small, old shack with only a room and no other facilities. The centre only survives from food donation by Food Bank.
