DWCPD responds to inputs made by the public during parliamentary hearings on the WEGE Bill

The Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities (DWCPD) led by Minister Lulu Xingwana will on Wednesday respond to concerns and inputs made by organisations during parliamentary public hearing sessions on the Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Bill (WEGE Bill).

Over 30 organisations representing various interests made presentations on the Bill before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Women Children and People with Disabilities on 29 and 30 January.

On Wednesday and Thursday, 5 to 6 February DWCPD will, after careful consideration of all the public inputs, give its response.

Once enacted, the Bill will become a powerful instrument to advance the objectives of women empowerment and gender equality. It will enforce compliance both within and outside the public service.

The Portfolio Committee seating will take place as follows:
Date: Wednesday, 5 February 2014
Time: 09h00
