The National Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will announce the Western Cape winner of the female entrepreneur awards this Friday.
Alan Winde, MEC of Economic Opportunities, will deliver the keynote address at the event.
Launched 15 years ago, the awards seek to celebrate the achievements of women in agriculture, specifically the important role they play in food security and job creation.
The goal of the programme is to help women farmers to transition from being subsistence- and small holder producers into commercial entrepreneurs and exporters.
Following ceremonies in each of the nine provinces, the national Female Entrepreneur Awards will be held in Mafikeng on 22 August 2014.
