Uthungulu hosts the Indigenous Games

The 2013 Department of Sport and Recreation Provincial Indigenous Games will be hosted by Uthungulu District Municipality from the 16 to 17 August at the Umhlathuze Central Sports Complex in Richardsbay.

The tournament seeks to prepare the provincial athletes for the National Games later this year, where KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) hopes to defend the title won last year. The festival will also provide an opportunity for participants to be selected to the provincial team that will represent KZN at the National Indigenous Games.

Participants at the provincial games represent their respective district municipalities including the eThekwini Metro. The municipalities, not only help prepare their teams, but they also provide playing kits, transport, accommodation and meals for the duration of the tournament.
