Transport Minister officially launches phase ii of Women In Rail

In light of August being Women’s month, Transport Minister Honourable Dipuo Peters will, on Thursday, 29 August 2013, deliver a keynote address and officially launch the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa’s (PRASA) Phase II of the Women In Rail (WIR) programme.

The Women in Rail initiative marks the commencement of a programme that is geared towards improving and increasing the representation of women professionals and women owned enterprises (WOEs) within the rail sector. The initiative also aims to create the sustainable economic inclusion of women within the railway sector.

The Minister will be joined by Transport Deputy Minister, Honourable Sindisiwe Chikunga, PRASA Group CEO Mr Lucky Montana and Board Chairperson Mr Sfiso Buthelezi, together with Board members and senior Department of Transport and PRASA officials.

Women involved in various facets across the rail sector and key transport stakeholders will form part on the official launch.
