Transport Minister Honourable Dipuo Peters re-launches Metrorail Bus Service between East London and King William’s Town/Bhisho

Transport Minister, Honourable Dipuo Peters together with Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Honourable Thandiswa Marawu will re-launch the Metrorail bus service between East London and King William’s Town/Bhisho.

The re-launch of the bus service will officially bring to a close, the month-long October Transport Month Campaign for 2013 that the Minister and Roads and Transport MECs across the country launched at the beginning of the month.

During the bus service re-launch, the Provincial Department will also officially unveil the Provincial Integrated Public Transport Master Plan which was adopted by the Provincial Cabinet, with the objective of improving the mobility of the people in the Province.

The occasion will be preceded by a promotional train trip from the East London Train Station at 08h30 to Fort Jackson, followed by a bus trip to the Steve Biko Centre in Ginsberg, in an effort to raise awareness about the new service, which is expected to commence on Monday 04 November 2013.

The re-introduction of the service fulfils the vision of the Department together with the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, which is to provide enhanced mobility as a gateway to accessible social and economic opportunities and a shared future.
