Transport Deputy Minister takes road accident fund services to communities in the Eastern Cape

Transport Deputy Minister, honourable Sindisiwe Chikunga will, on Saturday, 31 August 2013, visit and engage with key Road Accident Fund (RAF) stakeholders and road crash victims and claimants in the Eastern Cape region of Mount Frere.

The objective of the Deputy Minister’s visit and interaction is to reach out to victims of vehicle crashes with the view of assisting them better understand the RAF processes and get first hand interaction regarding some of the challenges experienced by the claimants.

The initiative, carried out under the programme Road Accident Fund Community Outreach Campaign, RAF On The Road, is also aimed at taking Road Accident Fund services to the communities.

Deputy Minister Chikunga, together with the RAF Executive, will pay a visit to road crash victims and claimants to assist with the processing of their claims.

The Deputy Minister will be joined by the Executive Mayor of Umzimvubu, Cllr Khuluzi Pangwa, CEO of the RAF Dr Eugene Watson, RAF Regional management and senior national and provincial officials.

As part of the RAF’s Corporate Social Responsibility, the Deputy Minister and entourage will also donate school shoes and other items to identified children who are in need during the visit.

To date, the RAF has engaged with numerous communities countrywide and has assisted more than 10 000 claimants. Settlement offers to the value of R126 million have been made.
