Statistics South Africa publishes new CPI weights and changes to basket of goods and services, 31 Jan

Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) will publish new weights for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), together with changes to the CPI basket of goods and services, at a virtual media briefing to be held on Monday, 31 January at 10:30.

The weights and basket were last amended in January 2017 and this update will reflect changes in the expenditure patterns of South African households.

The changes are to be implemented with the publication of the January 2022 CPI on 16 February.
