Sport, Arts and Culture launches 2024 Human Rights Month at Gallows Museum, 4 Mar

The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in partnership with the Department of Justice and Correctional Services invites members of the media to the launch of 2024 Human Rights Month to be held at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, under the theme “Three Decades of Respect for and Promotion of Human Rights”. The programme of the day will commence with a guided tour of the Gallows Museum; a formal briefing by both Ministers to unpack the significance of Human Rights Month in the context of 30th Anniversary of Freedom; and to also unpack the month-long commemoration programme.

The Gallows were chosen to afford the government a moment to reflect and remember the sacrifices made by political activists executed while fighting for freedom. Not only them but also those who were massacred in different parts of our beautiful country.
