Social Development hosts Ministerial Outreach Programme for Disability Awareness Month, 15 Nov

As part of the National Disability Rights Awareness Month, the Department of Social Development will visit Itireleng Centre (Previously known as Itireleng Centre for the Blind), a skills development for people with disabilities in Ga-Rankuwa, Zone 2 on Saturday, 15th November 2014.

The Project Mikondzo Team, comprising of the officials from Social Development, South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) and National Development Agency (NDA) from national, provincial and district levels have already started with preparatory work on the ground by conducting household profiling and facilitating community dialogues with people and organisations for the disabled.

People with disabilities wants to be heard and reports by representatives from the community presenting people with disabilities and Project Mikondzo Team will present their feedback on the dialogue and profiling sessions that were conducted during the week.

Airports Company South Africa, a long standing supporter of the National Disability Rights Awareness Month, will be presenting their donation of assistive devices to Itireleng Centre.
