Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba to open Econ Oil Marble Hall Plant

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr Malusi Gigaba, will open the first women owned oil plant at Marble Hall Plant, in Limpopo on Thursday, 17 October 2013.
After the awarding of the five year supply of fuel oil contract by Eskom, Econ Oil seized the opportunity to enhance its product offering and entrench itself as a supplier of fuel oil by developing a blending plant in Marble Hall.

The company already supplies 16 million litres of fuel per month to several power stations in Mpumalanga. Econ Oil is one of the success stories of transformation led by Eskom. It is a 100% black women-owned oil company, the first of its kind in the country. Econ is a direct beneficiary, and a living example of transformation policies championed by the Department of Public Enterprises.

The opening of the Marble Hall fuel plant shows just how much small business can prosper when anchored by State Owned Companies.
