Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba to meet Banking Association of South Africa

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Malusi Gigaba, will hold discussions with the members of the Banking Association of South Africa (BASA), on how the financial sector could play a critical role in the implementation of the Infrastructure Development Plan and the National Development Plan (NDP) of government.

Minister Gigaba is going to share with BASA members, the Government’s Infrastructure Plan and key aspects of the NDP that relates to the infrastructure roll-out. The meeting is critical as BASA, which is representative of the of the broader financial sector, needs to find innovative ways to work in greater synergy with the State Owned Companies and Government to leverage greater impact and outcomes in respect of their role in infrastructure roll-out.

Key to the discussions would be how BASA members may add value to the infrastructure plan in relation to financing, investment, capital risk and funding mix options, project management and technical support.
