KZN Premier to host media briefing on 20th anniversary celebrating our democracy

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Honourable Senzo Mchunu together with members of the Provincial Executive will on Monday, 10 March 2014, officially unveil programmes to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the country’s democracy to be undertaken with the province.

The Premier and Cabinet will also officially unveil the “20 years of freedom flame” which will criss-cross all the 11 districts in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, marking the proud milestones that have been achieved since 1994 to 2014, including peace and stability after years of being attached the stigma of being a province synonymous with violence as well as social and economic development achievements.

The programme is expected to cover not only celebrations of the successes of the democratic government, but will also be an occasion to remember the heroes and heroines who laid down their lives for the country to be liberated.

The programme will commence with a media briefing on the province wide celebration and will be followed by a visit to the Nelson Mandela Sculpture and the official programme to unveil the freedom flame.

Please note: Transport will be provided for media departing from the playhouse company in Durban at 07h30. All those requiring transport are requested to contact Regi Khumalo (numbers bellow) before 2pm today for confirmation.
