Gauteng Legislature official opening 2015
On Monday, 23 February 2015 the Gauteng Provincial Legislature will host the first Sitting of the year, which marks the occasion of the Premier’s delivery of the State of the Province Address (SOPA) for 2015.
Presided over by Honourable Speaker Ntombi Mekgwe, the State of the Province Address is the opportunity for Gauteng Citizens to hear about the Gauteng Executive’s plan of action for the year ahead, which includes all service delivery commitments by Gauteng Government as well as the socio-economic state of the Province.
The event will commence with a morning programme at 8h00, which includes red carpet interviews; entertainment; the police parade; and guard of honour among others. Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, will deliver the SOPA during a House Sitting at 10h00.
Street closures on the day
The following roads and intersections will be closed and monitored from 9h00 on the 23 February 2015:
- Full closure of President Street from Harrison to Rissik Streets at 10h00 to 15h00.
- The left hand lane in Harrison Street from Pritchard to Albertina Sisulu from 10h00 to 15h00
- Full closure of City Hall Street from Pritchard to President from 6h00 to 15h00
- The left lane on Rissik Street from Albertina Sisulu to President Street at 9h00; and full closure of Rissik from 10:h0 until 11h30
- Full closure of immediate left lane of Albertina Sisulu Street at 9h00 and full closure of Albertina Sisulu from 10h00 until 12h00
Reminder: To those that haven’t submitted details for accreditation, kindly complete the attached form (name and surname; ID number; and name of media company) and submit by Tuesday, 17 February 2015.
To note: Accreditation will be collected at the GPL precinct from 16 - 22 February 2015 (09h00-15h00). There will be no accreditation on the day of the event and access will be restricted in the absence of accreditation. IDs and press cards will be required on collection of all accreditation.
