Premier David Makhura and MEC Qedani Mahlangu unveil new ambulances, 19 May

Gauteng Premier and Health MEC, David Makhura and Qedani Mahlangu respectively, will unveil 49 new ambulances and pay gratitude to the men and women of the Emergency Medical Services.

Each day, citizens rely on Emergency Medical Service (EMS) systems to help them in their hour of greatest need. In communities across our province, we take comfort in knowing that well trained, caring men and women are only a phone call away. EMS personnel are the first on the scene, and their timely actions often make the difference between life and death.

Gauteng Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has implemented a recapitalisation plan to procure emergency service vehicles, in an effort to mitigate against ambulance shortages. These are distributed to the five districts, including local municipalities to replace the ageing fleet.

On the day, the Premier and MEC will also highlight the key role of Emergency Medical Services personnel in the delivery of public healthcare.

The details are as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 19 May 2015
Time: 09h30
Venues: Midrand EMS CALL CENTRE, Unit 4, Growth point Buiness Park, Cnr Tonetti & Old Pretoria Road, Midrand

There will be a demonstration of emergency management and the media will have interviewing and photo opportunities.
