Premier David Makhura and MEC Ismail Vadi launch rehabilitation of N14 road, 15 Jul

Gauteng Premier David Makhura and MEC for Roads and Transport Dr Ismail Vadi will on Wednesday, 15 July 2015, officially launch the N14 rehabilitation from Diepsloot to Hendrick Potgieter intersection.

The project will be rolled out in phases, with the Phase 1 involving the rehabilitation of the road between Diepsloot and Krugersdorp. Phase 2 will be done between Centurion and Diepsloot.

The road connects Centurion and Krugersdorp and serves as an alternative route to important locations such as the Sandton CBD, Lanseria Airport and the Diepsloot Township. It carries high volume of traffic particularly during peak times.

The R300 million rand project is expected to improve the structural and functional condition of the road as well as extend the Optimal Pavement Functionality by 15 years.

Additional objectives of the project include the provision of skills development opportunities as well as providing training and economic empowerment to Black Economic Empowerment (BEE’s) and SMME’s. The project is expected to take 18 months.
