Police launches Safer Festive Season Operations in Western Cape, 13 Oct

As the country edges closer to the holiday season, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Ministry of Police led by General Bheki Cele will on Friday, 13 October 2023, launch the nationwide Safer Festive Season Operations in the Western Cape.

Through intensified high density operations under the Operation Shanela umbrella, regular roadblocks, stop and searches and the tracking and tracing of wanted suspects will be a daily occurrence during this years’ safer festive operations.

The heightened police visibility is aimed at preventing, combating and at the same time, countering serious and violent crime during the holiday season and beyond.

Following the national launch, the Safer Festive Season Operations will be rolled-out in each province to ensure residents, holiday makers and businesses operating in the country are and feel safe during and beyond the festive season.
