Police and Stats SA sign Memorandum of Understanding, 16 Apr

The South African Police Service (SAPS) and Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) will be signing a memorandum of understanding to enter into partnership in the National Statistics System (NSS). The NSS is the process of coordinating the production of quality statistics in the country through a partnership between producers and users of data in accordance with quality standards set down by the Statistician-General.Partnership in the NSS also implies that the SAPS shall develop management and administrative systems that facilitate compliance with NSS statistical production protocols and support the production of quality data from which statistics can be generated for the pool of official statistics on a sustainable basis.

The National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Riah Phiyega, and Statistician-General for Stats SA, Mr Pali Lehohla, will represent the two organisations at the official signing ceremony.
