Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department Eastern Cape (EC) (COGTA) is set to convene a two day Provincial Political Municipalities and MECs (MuniMec) from 11 to 12 September 2014, in Queenstown.
A comprehensive plan will be shared with all 45 municipalities and other strategic stakeholders to speed up service delivery through the coordination and integration of government programmes, policy and legislation across the three spheres of government, hence “Single Window of Coordination.”
The programme is designed to focus among others on the following critical issues:
- Municipal Capacity Support and Intervention Framework
- Initiation Report
- Utilisation of Traditional Councils as rural development centres
- Addressing Audit Issues in Eastern Cape Municipalities
- Update on the National Health Insurance (NHI)
This meeting will be braced by the presence of the new COGTA EC MEC, FD Xasa who is determined to give strategic direction to improve service delivery in the Eastern Cape Province.
