About Petitions: A petition is a formally written (usually a complaint), which is submitted to an authority as an attempt to get their assent to a request. Typically, a written petition is signed by multiple people, indicating that a large group of people supports the request detailed in the petition. The Legislature mediates this process between the complainant (petitioner) and the authorities (e.g. Department of Municipality).
