Particulars of the State of the Province address and media tour by the Free State Provincial Government and the Free State Provincial Legislature

The Speaker of the Free State Legislature, Honourable Sisi Mabe has convened the first Sitting of the 5th Democratic Legislature and the delivering of the State of the Province Address (SOPA), by the Premier of the Free State, Honourable Elias Sekgobelo Magashule, on 26 June 2014 at the University of the Free State’s QwaQwa Campus.

The State of the Province Address marks the beginning of the Second Phase of Democratic Transition since the 1994 democratic breakthrough and the peaceful transition. It is anticipated that the Speaker of the Legislature will outline the workings of the provincial legislature of promotion of public participation and the greater involvement of the Free State citizen in decision making processes that will significantly change their lives for the better. The Premier of the Free State on the other hand is expected to outline the workings of government that will spell out the mechanisms through which the government will advance the discourse of a better life for all.

Ahead of this august occasion, there will be a display of new patient transport, response vehicles and ambulances. A brief announcement and viewing will be done with Media just before the address by the Honourable Premier.

Media tour

Friday, 27 June 2014 at 13h00 to Sunday, 29 June 2014 at midday.

The SOPA will be followed by a Media Tour, which will commence on Friday, 27 June 2014 at the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality offices. The Media Tour will form part of an extensive Operation Hlasela Outreach Programme as part of the 102 Days Programme of Government. The far-reaching Media Tour will end on Sunday, 29 June 2014.

  • Launch of the Provincial Food Distribution Centre in QwaQwa
  • Opening of Houses in Bluemgumbosch and other areas
  • Official Opening of the Upgraded Tina Moloi Clinic in QwaQwa
  • Launch of the Lusaka Sewer Connection Project
