Parliament undertakes oversight visit to Transnet, Denel and South African Express, 25 to 27 Nov

Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises on oversight visit to Transnet, Denel and SAX

The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises will tomorrow undertake a week-long oversight visit to Johannesburg.

The Committee will visit three state-owned companies, South African Express (SAX), Transnet and Denel. The aim of the oversight is for the Committee to familiarise and investigate the challenges facing the companies. The Committee will also be briefed and receive a report on infrastructure development projects that seek to promote economic growth, local business, job creation, localisation and beneficiation, and skills development.

The visit will start on Tuesday, 25 November, and end of Thursday, 27 November. At SAX, the Committee will focus on governance and financial sustainability, including progress made with the implementation of the turnaround strategy. The purpose of the visit is to ensure that state-owned companies deliver on the government’s developmental objectives.
