Parliament holds inquiry into alleged closing of Clifton 4th Beach to public, 4 Feb

The Portfolio Committee on Environmental Affairs will on Monday 1 February 2019 hold an inquiry into the alleged closing off of the Clifton 4th Beach to the members of the public on 23 December last year. The committee has invited stakeholders such as the Department of Environmental Affairs, City of Cape Town, the Professional Protection Alternatives (PPA) Security company, South African Police Service (SAPS); Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) and the affected people.

When this incident happened in December last year, the Chairperson of the committee, Mr Phillemon Mapulane condemned the incident and assured everyone that there will be a meeting in the new year with all the stakeholders involved to ascertain what led to this incident.
