Having interacted with various stakeholders in the Free State as part of the Provincial Week programme, the National Council of Provinces (NCOP)’s Free State delegation will this morning hold a debriefing meeting in Bloemfontein.
When the programme started on Tuesday, the NCOP delegation heard presentations from the provincial Department of Treasury, Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, the Auditor General and the South African Local Government Association as part of their oversight function to assess the state of delivery.
The next two days saw presentations being tabled by the Kopanong Local, Xhariep District, Naledi Local and Mangaung Metro municipalities. The delegation also had site visits to three projects – the Xhariep Leather Design Cooperative, the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium and the Hillside View social housing project.
With the programme set to be concluded this morning, the delegation will hold a debriefing meeting with the provincial leadership during which a draft report with specific recommendations for action on service delivery challenges identified throughout the week will be discussed.
