Parliament debates report of the Provincial Week, 18 Nov

The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will debate the report of the Provincial Week under the theme “Together making service delivery work for our people”.

The debate is a culmination of the NCOP’s Provincial Week Programme held in all nine Provinces from 8 to 12 September 2014, where permanent delegates to the NCOP returned to their respective provinces to conduct oversight in areas that have been experiencing service delivery protests.

The delegates met with the provincial legislatures, premiers, Members of the Executive Councils (MEC), mayors, the public and other relevant stakeholders.

Provincial Week is in line with the drive to build an activist Parliament which plays a role in giving expression to the needs and challenges of communities.

The NCOP visits included public meetings to interact directly with communities on issues concerning them. The NCOP will debate the report in its formal Sitting.
