Parliament conducts public hearings, 5 to 6 May

Agriculture Committee to conduct public hearings

The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries will conduct public hearings in Parliament next week on Tuesday, 5 May, and Wednesday, 6 May 2015.

The Committee’s two-day public hearings are driven by Parliament’s core objective of facilitating and involving individuals, interested groups and stakeholders to have a say and submit their inputs on the following Bills:

  • The Performing Animals Protection Amendment Bill – which seeks to amend the Perfoming Animals Protection Act,
  • The Plant Improvement Bill – which seeks to provide for the registration of certain types of business relating to plants and propagating intended for cultivation and sale.
  • The Plant Breeders’ Rights Bill – which seeks to provide for a system whereunder plant breeders’ rights relating to varieties of certain kinds of plants may be granted.
