Energy Committee assesses power progress
The Portfolio Committee on Energy will, from 27 to 31 January, conduct oversight visits to various energy-related projects in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Free State and Gauteng provinces.
The Committee will first visit KZN to assess progress made in terms of the installation of solar home systems as well as the implementation of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme.
The Gauteng leg will see the Committee holding public hearings on the transformation of the gas industry through partnerships. The engagement in the province will further focus on cogeneration and trigeneration power initiatives and partnerships.
The week will culminate in a visit to Integrated National Electrification Programmes and solar water heater programmes in Gauteng.
