One thousand and nine(1 009) unemployed youth graduate

Correctional Services Minister Sibusiso Ndebele will deliver the keynote address at a graduation ceremony for 1 009 unemployed youth, who will graduate as part of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) learnership programme on Friday (18th October 2013), at Kroonstad in the Free State.

As part of government’s programme of action to address unemployment and expand opportunities for greater employment, and empowerment, of youth in the country, the graduation marks the culmination of a successful partnership between DCS and the Safety and Security Seta (SASSETA) to train young people as correctional officials.

The contracted individuals, including men and women below the age of 35, have gone through theoretical and practical training in different aspects of correctional services for the duration of 12 months while at the Correctional Services College.The learnership programme is one of the programmes that government is utilising to increase the number of Correctional Officials.
