The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Minister Gugile Nkwinti (MP) cordially invites members of the media to cover the official opening of a R5, 5 million community swimming pool, in Ceres.
The swimming pool is part of the departmental Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP). The swimming pool was built in collaboration with the Witzenberg Local Municipality. Through the CRDP the department wants to improve the livelihoods of rural communities ultimately creating vibrant, equitable and sustainable rural communities.
This includes: redistributing 30% of the country’s agricultural land; improving food security of the rural poor; creating business opportunities, de-congesting and rehabilitating over-crowded former homeland areas; and expanding opportunities for women, youth, people with disabilities and older persons who stay in rural areas.
