Northern Cape Transport closes 2014 Transport Month, 1 Nov

The 2014 October Transport Month (OTM) campaign will officially come to a close on Saturday, 1 November in Kimberly, Northern Cape.

Annually, in October, the Department of Transport celebrates OTM to highlight and showcase achievements and progress in the delivery of much-needed transport services and infrastructure in the Republic.

The Ministry, its State Owned Companies, Provincial Departments cutting across Roads, Transport and Community Safety and Liaison and Municipalities also utilises the campaign to engage with transport sector stakeholders across the country on various transport related issues. This way, the Ministry and these key role players afford stakeholders and members of society the opportunity to consult, engage with and raise issues that are not only directly pertinent to their own circumstances but also have national implications.

During the month of October, Minister Peters and Deputy Minister Chikunga have visited various provinces in the carrying out of the mandate of the department and as part of the October Transport Month (OTM) campaign.

On Saturday, 1 November the 2014 OTM campaign will officially come to a close in Kimberly.

The official closing event will be attended by national and provincial political office bearers, senior national and provincial government officials, Chairpersons, Board members and CEOs of transport and other State Owned Companies, key transport stakeholders across the country, members of the community and the media.

The official closing event will commence with a road safety parade in the continued effort to highlight the road carnage in South Africa and thus further disseminate the message of road safety and later culminating in a community event to engage with members of the public.
