The Northern Cape Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in partnership with the National Department of Arts and Culture will be hosting two Social Cohesion Community Conversations on 27 and 28 November 2014.
The Social Cohesion Conversations will be held on 27 and 28 November 2014 in the Thembelihle and Gamagara Municipalities.

The conversations are being held as part of the build-up in preparing for the National Summit to be held during March 2015.
The objectives of the community conversations are, among others:
- To identify the key socio-economic. Political, cultural and environmental stressors in communities and to understand how these factors facilitate or hinder opportunities for building cohesive and sustainable social relations among South African Communities;
- To facilitate the implementation of community conversations in selected sites as a platform through which South African communities can identify and articulate the challenges, and innovative solutions, towards building a cohesive society;
- To document the perspective emerging from the community-based initiative and generate a status report to inform the development of a National Strategic Plan on Social Cohesion.
