Today, 18 October 2013, the North West Provincial Legislature's Portfolio Committee on Local Government and Traditional Affairs will be holding an urgent oversight meeting at Tswaing Local Municipality at 10h00. The purpose of the meeting is to assess the status of the municipality.
The Committee will interact under the following priority areas:
- Governance – political leadership, all council meetings, administrative support, IDP’s, work of the Ward Committees, LED structures.
- MPAC – all oversight reports of the MPAC committee.
- Financial position – financial position of the municipality, including all creditors owed revenue.
- Bulk Infrastructure – the availability, functionality and maintenance of infrastructure.
- Service Delivery – housing, electricity, water, sanitation.
- Corruption – all reported cases of corruption, including filling of vacancies in compliance with the Municipality Systems Amendment Act, 2011 and what the progress are with regard to resolving it.
- Success and challenges - facing the municipality.
