The North West Provincial Legislature will be hosting the Senior Citizens Sectoral Parliament under the United Nations theme "The future we want: What Older Persons are saying” on Thursday, 31 October 2013 in the Legislature Chamber at 10h00.
The objective of the event is for the Legislature to present the views of Older Persons and ensure that relevant departments respond to the Elderly through the Legislature on issues raised.
The event will reflect on issues raised during the last Senior Citizens Sectoral Parliament and make a follow-up on them and conduct oversight research in Old Age homes and Service Clubs.
Different stakeholders from elderly persons in service clubs and old age homes; Older Persons Forum; Older Persons Rights Desk from the Office of the Premier and Department of Social Development, Women, Children and People with Disabilities will attend the event.
