On Friday, 22 August 2014, the North West Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Public Works, Roads, Transport and Community safety together with the Portfolio Committee on Education, Sports, Arts, Culture and Traditional Affairs will be inspecting roads around Ganyesa and Katlarelo Primary School in Southey at the Kagisano Molopo Local Municipality at 10h00.
It is alleged in a newspaper report that the Katlarelo Primary School has only three classrooms that are also used as storeroom, kitchen, staff room and library. Teachers use bucket system and learners help themselves in the bush because the pit toilets that were built by the community were destroyed by heavy rains.
The committees will inspect the condition of the school and how it affects teaching and learning. The Committees will begin with a pre-oversight meeting at the Kagisano-Molopo Local Municipality in Ganyesa at 09h00 followed by the inspection of these roads and the primary school.
